| | Carnatic Community - South Indian Classical Music (19 Sites, 1343 Hits) 01/05/1998 wr__tj
The ability to express thoughts through sounds has evolved into an art which we call music. Music can thus be defined as an art form that arranges sounds in a fashion that follows certain natural principles and provides that special inner feeling of happiness and contentment. The purpose of this ring is to link all web sites devoted to Carnatic - South Indian Classical Music. Carnatic music emphasizes the voice and singing, which may be accompanied by the instruments of the region, including tambura, violin, mridangam, and veena. The raga style is commonly used, and improvisation is common. Sites include those devoted to sound recordings, composers and performers, and societies that pursue this music in its purest form.

| | Symphony and Orchestra (4 Sites, 48 Hits) 07/30/2003 wr__tj
Anything and everything about the symphony orchestra, and orchestral music. Orchestral groups and individual sites are represented here. The symphony orchestra was developed in Europe, and has now been established all across the world. Symphonies have been written for full orchestra, as well as string orchestras. They usually consist of three or four movements, starting and ending with a vigorous movement with a quiet, peaceful movement in the middle. This webring not only provides information about the symphonies in the repertoire, but also about symphony orchestras from around the world. The word "philharmonic" means "love of harmony." The orchestra is the Philharmonic Orchestra of Jalisco, Mexico. Photo by Pedro Sánchez. The navigation bar photo is of conductor Loren Maazel. Photo by Chris Lee.
